Sea Buckthorn Smoothie

Check out Andrew making one of his famous sea buckthorn smoothies!  He varies the ingredients depending upon what he has on hand or what’s in season.

Today’s smoothie ingredients are:  sea buckthorn berries, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, orange juice and yogurt.

Science has revealed sea buckthorn’s incredible nutritional profile and it is full of the following nutrients and vitamins:

  • essential fatty acids – omega 3, 6, 9 and the rare omega 7
  • vitamin C – one berry (the size of a blueberry) has as much vitamin C as one orange
  • vitamin E – the second highest natural source in the plant world
  • beta carotene
  • antioxidants – 18 amino acids, corticoids, tocopherols, flavenoids
  • over 190 phytonutrients

A sea buckthorn smoothie is a healthy way to start your day.  Since many store bought smoothies often have added sugars you are better off making your own.  There are countless combinations of fruit, vegetables and other nutritious ingredients that you can use to make your own healthy smoothie!
