Beeton Honey & Garden Festival
May 27, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Beeton Honey & Garden Festival is one we have been attending for years! It’s always fun to meet new people and see our loyal customers year after year. Make sure you enter our contest for some Bee By The Sea loot!
Rustic Roots & Co. is the only store in Beeton carrying our products. If you miss us at the show or need to stock up you can find them at 50 Main Street East.
Despite the town’s small population of approximately 4,000 people, this is a HUGE event. This festival is so much fun and there is so much to do. Festival Nomad, Gary McWilliams gives you a first hand account of his experience here. He also has a bunch of great pictures like this one below:
The history of the festival is really interesting. “David Allanson Jones was a storekeeper and postmaster who settled in the small West Gwillimbury community of Clarksville during the 1860’s. By 1870 he owned fifty acres of farmland and two swarms of bees. From these simple beginnings, Jones became the first commercial beekeeper in Canada. Across Europe and North America, David A. Jones was known as the Bee King of the Nineteenth Century. In 1875, Clarksville was renamed Bee Town in his honour. Eventually the spelling was changed to the short British form, Beeton.”…..click here to read the rest of the story on the Festival’s website.
The festival is held on Main St. (Cnty Rd 1) in Beeton (portions of Main St. will be closed to vehicles the day of the festival).
If you’ve gone to festival’s past or come out this year tell us about your experience in the comments section below.
